Draft — not yet legally reviewed. This describes how Upgram is intended to work, but it has not been checked by a lawyer and is not a binding agreement. It must be reviewed and finalised before the app is published to the app stores.

Upgram is a learning app. The data we handle exists to make the app work — showing you relevant content, keeping your progress, and letting creators get paid. This page explains that in plain English rather than in defensive legal padding.

What we will never do

These are commitments, not a description of current defaults that might quietly change later:

  • We will not sell your personal data to third parties.
  • We will not sell or share your watch history with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We will not read your direct messages for advertising purposes.
  • We will not make you contact support to delete your account.

What we collect

Account information. An email address and a display name, plus anything else you choose to add to your profile such as a photo or a bio.

Content you create. The videos, courses, comments and messages you upload or send, along with their titles, descriptions, categories and the captions and summaries generated from them.

Activity in the app. What you watch, like, save, follow and enrol in, and how far through a lesson or course you are. This is what makes the feed useful and your progress resumable.

Technical information. Device type, operating system version, app version, rough region and diagnostic data such as crash reports.

Payment information. When paid courses go live, payments are handled by Apple, Google or our payment processor. Card numbers and bank details go to them, not to us — we receive a record that a transaction happened.

Why we use it

  • To run the app: signing you in, playing video, saving your progress, delivering messages.
  • To recommend content you're more likely to find worth watching.
  • To generate captions, transcripts and summaries for uploaded video.
  • To keep the platform safe: detecting spam, abuse and fraudulent activity.
  • To pay creators accurately, once paid courses are live.
  • To fix things — understanding crashes and errors so they stop happening.

Who else processes your data

Running an app like this means using specialist providers. Each one handles a defined slice of data on our behalf, under contract:

  • Our cloud database and authentication provider, which stores account and content records.
  • Our video platform, which stores, encodes and streams uploaded video.
  • Our chat provider, which powers direct messages and course group chats.
  • An AI provider, which generates transcripts and summaries from uploaded video.
  • Error-monitoring and analytics providers, which receive diagnostic and usage data.
  • Apple and Google, which process app-store payments and push notifications.

We are not in the business of selling access to you. These providers may not use your data for their own purposes.

Your choices

  • Edit or delete anything you've published, from inside the app, at any time.
  • Delete your account and the content attached to it, from inside the app.
  • Turn off push, email and SMS notifications individually in settings.
  • Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.

Depending on where you live you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. We apply the choices above to everyone regardless of location.

Children

Upgram is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this page

If this policy changes in a way that meaningfully affects you, we'll say so in the app rather than silently updating the date at the top of this page.
